About Me

Career History

I graduated from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, with a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy in 2004. In 2005 I worked in a large government hospital in SA, before coming to Ireland in 2006. I spent the next 2 years working in a busy sports injuries clinic in Cork city, followed by a year in the HSE service in West Cork. In 2009 I returned to South Africa and spent a year doing a combination of hospital and outpatient physiotherapy. I then moved to London in 2010 and worked in numerous NHS and private hospitals on locum contracts.

In 2011 I returned to Ireland after an extended period of travel, and established Caroline Cumming Physiotherapy in Ballydehob. I expanded in to the Mizen Primary Care Centre in Schull in 2013, but unfortunately have left this location since Covid-19.

Throughout this time I have worked with a range of different sports people and teams, including rugby, gaelic football, triathlon and boxing.

This was the start of my interest in what is now known as Lifestyle Medicine, and I have been pursuing this interest clinically ever since.

I am currently enrolled in the Core Accreditation Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine through the British Association of Lifestyle Medicine (https://bslm.org.uk)
